Takapoto Classic, 2019 – 2026.

The Takapoto Classic has become a fixture in the summer calendar here at Takapoto Estate. The team prides itself on producing a unique, world-class event for riders, spectators and sponsors here in New Zealand.

2019
21 February – 3 March 2019

Two weeks and 747 combinations, with Frank Rothenberger building the tracks. Annabel Francis and Carado GHP took the Gold Tour Final.

22 February – 1 March 2020

Two weeks on the grass, and a week the visiting Australians made their own. The Teams Championship ran for the first time.

24 – 27 February 2021

Cut short by COVID-19. The first week was cancelled when Auckland moved to Alert Level 3; the second week ran to Saturday evening, then a further change in alert levels took finals day with it.

February 2022

Lost to COVID-19. With New Zealand in the red traffic-light setting and gatherings capped at one hundred, neither Takapoto nor Horse of the Year ran that summer.

2023
16 – 26 February 2023

The first year under the Takapoto Classic name. Cyclone Gabrielle compressed week one; week two ran in full over Frank Rothenberger's tracks.
