Two ways in.

What you'll see depends on the morning. Tūī almost always. Kererū often. Kākā, constantly. Every tour goes out with a knowledgeable guide — learn about the development of the estate, and the plantings and conservation practices that make Takapoto what it is today.

01 — Walking · 3 hours · $45
The walking eco-tour.

Three hours over farmland, through bush, and riverside. Bring good shoes and water — includes hills, so moderate fitness is required. Morning tea included; optional wine tasting to finish.

02 — BYO e-bike · 2.5 hours · $45
The e-bike tour.

Traverse the estate along the inner pathways and roads — hills and regular stops included, with a visit to the Market Garden and the no-dig garden beds. Morning tea included; optional wine tasting to finish.

A flight path from the mountain

The birds come first.

Maungatautari sits three kilometres away — a fully predator-fenced ecological island. As the populations inside have grown, they've begun spilling out along the corridor we plant and protect. Every tour covers the pest control work that keeps it safe — the trap lines, the monitoring, and the numbers.
