The first Sauvignon Blanc for this label based in Waikato - the fruit coming from Dillons Point Road in the Lower Wairau region of Marlborough. As winemaker Alex Coldicutt said to me “We do get asked for a Sav a lot, so we probably should have one”. A very pale steely lemon yellow in the glass. The bouquet is intense but elegantly aromatic, with blackcurrant, grapefruit, red apple, dried pineapple, chamomile, lemon and boxwood. Also, that jellybean note that hints at white Bordeaux. Crisp and dry to taste, with zesty acidity giving excellent length. Plenty of phenolic grip, with fruit tannin and a quartzy minerality evident. Well-structured, but with a lightness of touch and the finish is refreshing but fine and lengthy. A rather good first effort.

A powerful bouquet and palate with a drive and intensity of fruit, fresh herbs, acidity, white spice and citrus. Lemon peel and lime, fresh sage and apples then a wet Greywacke mineral suggestion. Crisp, with laser beam acidity and persistent fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. Light+ in weight, fresh and very new with best drinking alongside salty foods like oysters or shellfish pasta with grated parmesan.

This Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is bursting with ripe tropical fruit. A touch of sweetness adds weight to the palate and lends a fruity finish.
