Sustainable Products Working a Treat

There’s a not-so-secret ingredient given to the Takapoto Equestrian horses that seems to be making a world of difference.

AgriSea is an award-winning seaweed innovation company, providing 100% organic vitamins, minerals and trace elements for the environment, animals and humans. It’s a family operation that has its roots on the beach where seaweed is gathered before heading to the factory in Paeroa where a fermentation process begins.

The equine arm is a small but growing part of AgriSea. Takapoto team rider Jake Lambert has long been a fan of the products. “It fills all of my horses’ supplementary requirements,” says Jake. “It’s easy to administer and has become a key part to my success.”

Equine consultant Susi Thomas started with AgriSea 12 years ago and developed the equine space from scratch. “It’s a fantastic product not only for our pastures, but also our bloodstock,” she says. She loves being involved with the “commitment, dedication, knowledge, professionalism and friendliness” of Takapoto.

As well as equine, AgriSea has products for dairy, sheep and beef farmers, horticulture and bees. They are now working alongside partner companies to co-create personal hygiene products, tea, kombucha and even gin.

AgriSea was started 27 years ago to help gardeners and has mushroomed from there. The company is in the throes of developing a multi-million dollar factory at their Paeroa base to branch into wound healing products.
