Job Vacancy: Head Gardener - Vegetation Control

This position involves spray operations and vegetation control tasks, including plant and pest identification, application of herbicide to control weeds, general park vegetation maintenance, planting, pruning, herbaceous perennials, and removal of Green waste, including pruning, hedge trimming and pest control.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

• Well-organised with excellent time management skills

• Work to project deadlines with the utmost attention to detail

• High energy levels, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with regular duties

• Capable of leading a team to produce excellent results

• Must be able to work independently and be very self-motivated

• Work alongside the parks team in performing all tasks from the mundane to the critical

• Excellent communication skills

Qualifications and experience needed:

• Proven experience in horticulture

• Experience leading people

• Full, clean driver’s license

• Grow Safe spray certificates

• Landscaping and cultivation experience

• Basic chainsaw operation certification is advantageous

• Experience with tractors and machinery

• Native plant and weed maintenance knowledge
