OUR HORSES
About our Horse Programme
The Takapoto Horse Programme has been established with an emphasis on producing world class horses ready to compete and excel on the global stage. The ultimate aim is for the programme to produce elite level horses for our sponsored rider, and New Zealand's number one professional show jumper, Sam McIntosh, to compete in Europe. A secondary goal of the programme is to produce horses to be ridden at the top level of competition on the New Zealand show jumping circuit.
TAKAPOTO ESTATE HORSES
Check In - 16 year old stallion
Check In is a 16 year old stallion by Boeckmann’s Cordalme Z out of Ilonka, who is by Lord Pezi. Checky was bred and previously competed by Gilbert Boeckmann and he has lots of good offspring now jumping Grand Prix.

Last year Checky helped lead the NZ team to a victory in the Abu Dhabi Nations Cup and has been our star performer at the last World Equestrian Games 2018.
Alaid de Chez Nous - 9 year old mare
Alaid is the newest member to the team for Sam and is a 9 year old mare by Ogano Sitte out of Ondine de Grozieux, who is by Biesolo.

Alaid is currently competing with Sam up to 1.40m and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for this talented mare.
Lombardi - 4 year old
Gelding by Andretti out of Zoe CSNZ, who is Cervelt MVNZ.

Zac placed third in the 2018 NZ Young Horse 4 Year Old Championships with Jaime.
Estina - 16 year old mare
Estina is a 15 year old mare by Heartbreaker out of Secret Love Wonderland, who is by Libero H.

Estina has had a lot of success up to 1.50m with Sam and is a great speed horse. Estina is also the mother of Malarkey, who is currently based in NZ and being ridden by Oliver for Takapoto.

Mare by Cartell GNZ out of Claire, who is by Chasseur I.
Casanova Xtreme - 5 year old
Gelding by Corofino II out of JK Looks Good, who is by JK Lucas.

Tommi placed second in the 2018 NZ Young Horse 5 year old championships with Jaime.
Sienna - 3 year old
Mare by Euro Sport Centavos out of Belize di Cantero, who is by Clinton.
Malarkey - 6 year old
Gelding by Corofino II and out of Estina, who is by Heartbreaker.

Paddy placed 5th in the NZ Young Horse 2018 for 6 year olds and won the style award with Oliver. Sam rode Malarkey as a 5 year old at the Takapoto Young Horse Championships and placed 3rd overall.
